Guide: Dashboard Widgets - MinuteShark

📊 Dashboard Widgets: Your Daily Productivity Hub

The MinuteShark Dashboard is your central command center, and the widgets are designed to give you instant access to the information and actions you need most—helping you stay focused, agile, and productive throughout your day.

The goal is to eliminate context switching and keep your time tracking effortless.

1. Available Widgets

Your dashboard includes five powerful widgets to maximize your efficiency:

  1. Starred Tasks

  2. Notes

  3. To-Do Lists

  4. Pomodoro Timer

  5. History

Starred Tasks

The Starred Tasks widget is built to keep your most urgent and important tasks always visible.

  • What it Shows: This widget displays any task where you have manually clicked the star icon next to it.

  • How to Star a Task: To star a task, click Projects from the side menu navigation, select a project, and star the desired task within the task list.

  • Assigned Tasks: It also automatically shows tasks that have been explicitly assigned to you, ensuring you never miss a deadline.

Notes

Your personal, private scratchpad for thoughts, reminders, or temporary details.

  • Visibility: The Notes widget is visible only to you.

  • Content: You can quickly add any text and even images here for reference throughout your workday.

To-Do Lists

This is where you plan your focus and execute your tasks directly.

  • List Creation: You can create multiple To-Do Lists to manage different priorities (e.g., “This Week’s To-Do List,” “Urgent Client Follow-ups”).

  • Adding Tasks: You select tasks that are already created under projects to be part of a To-Do List, ensuring everything you work on is linked back to a billable project.

  • Direct Time Tracking: You can track time directly on these tasks straight from the widget by simply clicking the Play icon.

  • Marking as Done: When you mark a task as done, it cleanly crosses it off your list.
Important: Marking a task as done in this widget does not Close the task (to prevent further time being logged in it).
To officially close a task and prevent further time logging, please refer to the: Setting up Projects guide.

Pomodoro Timer

Use the Pomodoro Timer to boost your deep focus and combat procrastination.

  • Purpose: The Pomodoro Technique involves breaking work into short, focused intervals (traditionally 25 minutes) separated by short breaks. This structure helps maintain concentration and prevent burnout.

  • Beeps: The timer will beep to alert you when the focused work interval is over, so ensure your audio is on!

History

The History widget gives you a clear, immediate record of your activity for review.

  • Timeframe: This widget shows your time tracked for the current day. You can also easily navigate back to view time tracked on a specific date in the past.

  • Grouped Blocks: Time entries are grouped by task. If you log multiple consecutive time entries for the same task, they are grouped together. When you switch to a different task, that begins a new group.

  • Editing Entries: You can edit time entries directly here, including modifying the start or end time, or changing which task the entry refers to.

  • Intended Use: the History widget is designed for quick edits and daily review. We also have comprehensive reports and project trackers if you need.
